Are Your Brakes in Tip-Top Shape?

The loud squeal coming from your tires can be your brake pads—telling you they need to be checked. The noise might be caused by a pad wear indicator scraping on the brake rotor. The indicator was put there to warn you when your brakes are getting too thin, but there are also other signs it’s time to get your brakes checked. Don’t forget, watch your dashboard for the warning light.

Some vehicles have an electronic brake indicator that warns you when your brake fluid level is too low. If your vehicle shimmies, or the brake pedal pulsates, this could be one of those other signs your brake system need attention. A soft or spongy brake pedal is another warning. Finally, if you hear any grinding when you apply the brakes, have them checked immediately!

Don’t ignore your vehicles warnings! Worn out brakes are dangerous for you and others on the road! A little preventative maintenance can help avoid costly damage to other brake components besides your vehicles’ brake pads.

Did you know, most service providers will provide a free inspection of your entire braking system?
